For estate sale companies
Catalogue the house. Print the tags. Run the register.
One tool for the whole sale, from pricing the first item to the report you hand the family after the doors close. Research what things are worth, catalogue a houseful of them, print tags on the label stock you already buy, and run the register when the doors open. Whether you're a veteran in the trade, or just getting started, our platform makes it quick and easy.
Two minutes, and you will know whether it fits how you work.
Why it exists
Because we felt the pain points
Through years of firsthand experience in the estate sale industry and testimonials from other owners, we've seen the same challenges arise time and again. Estate Sale Buddy was created to streamline the entire process from preparation to post-sale reporting.
-
Weeks before
Preparation taking several weeks. Pricing and tagging dragging on for days.
-
On the day
Malicious shoppers swapping price tags. Putting lower amounts on high-value items.
-
At the register
Chaotic checkout. Customers getting confused about prices and discounts. Cashiers referencing a cheat sheet to remember what certain items cost.
-
Behind the desk
Bookkeeping nightmares and a backed up register. Transactions written down on paper and thumbing numbers into a calculator.
-
After the doors close
Weeks of reconciling cash, card statements, and what is owed to the family.
-
Season after season
Difficulty building a reputation for your company due to no branding or name recognition for shoppers to latch on to.
What it does
The whole job, not one slice of it
Catalogue a houseful
Photograph, name and price an item in one pass, on a phone, standing in the room. Use our AI-assistant to research items and help fill out the catalogue. Price a single item, price a set of items that go together, or price a group of items in a lot.
Print your tags
Price tags are generated automatically based on the items you have catalogued. Print them off onto label stock. The item name, price, ID for the register, and even your own branding are all included on the tag itself. No more hand-writing tags or worrying about malicious tag swapping.
Checkout on sale day
Ring up a customer in seconds. Day-two and day-three markdowns applied automatically based on your company's adjustable preferences. The total is calculated and can pass through to a card reader or be paid in cash. Flexibility at the register and a record of transactions.
Multiple consignors
A sale with multiple consignors or estates is seamlessly handled while you catalogue and at checkout, and commissions are settled automatically at the end of the sale. No more deciphering notes or calculating percentages by hand.
The account for the family
What sold, for how much, what the commission came to and what is owed. Printed at the end of the sale, as soon as the doors close.
Built for the crew you have
Accessibility is prioritized. Large-type, simple screens and workflows. Tested by and developed for the less tech-savvy members of your crew. A simple mode for those that need it, and a denser version for desktop or proficient operators.
See it working
Watch how it works, start to finish
A walkthrough of the whole job: cataloguing a room, pricing what you find, printing a sheet of tags, and ringing up a customer on the day.

Where it fits
Who this is for
There is more demand for estate sales than there are companies running them, and that demand is expected to grow significantly over the next two decades. The business and the trade itself are learnable. The challenge is the operating side: how to tag, what to price an item for, how to run the register, how to create the account for the family, how to build a following and a reputation for your company. This answers those, so a new company can run like an established one from its first sale. And an established company can scale with newfound efficiency.
A good fit if
- You are just starting out and would rather run your business properly from your first sale than discover all the pain points we have already identified
- You have run sales for years on spreadsheets, notebooks and memory, and want that part to stop being the hard part
- You want to start and finish sales faster than you do now
- You want to do multiple sales at once
- You are done with the bookkeeping nightmare
- Your crew changes between sales and needs something obvious
- You want the family's account produced quickly, with no guesswork
- You sell things for other people as well as the estate
- You just want the whole process to be smoother and easier
Adaptable for
- Clearing a family member's house as a one-off, rather than doing this as a business
- A garage sale
- Permanent shops, malls, and booths

I grew up in this business
I'm Sam Holleman. When my grandparents started their estate sale company based in Fort Worth, I was a teenager. My brother and I were the helping hands during preparation and on sale day, moving heavy furniture and clearing out hard-to-reach places. Before long, I was helping their friends in the industry and working the floor on sale days. As I got older I stepped back from it, though I would still answer the call whenever they needed a helping hand.
I have always been a systems guy. I like to see how things work, and how they can work better. When I developed an interest in software, I started building tools to solve my own problems, and the ones I kept running into at my various places of employment. When my grandparents asked me to help with another estate sale they were running, the idea for Estate Sale Buddy was born.
When I started building it, I wanted it to fit not just my grandparents and the way they do things, but the industry as a whole. During the research and development process, I visited dozens of estate sale companies and watched how they ran their sales. I sat down with operators and asked them about their work, and how they would like to see the process improved. Along the way, I saw the same pain points come up again and again. Estate Sale Buddy was built to help solve them.
